چکیده

The few remarks I purpose making this evening are concerned with the health of children at public and private boarding and day schools, and are in no way applicable to elementary or State-supported schools. In one way the latter class of school has a great advantage, inasmuch as they are subject to periodic medical inspection either by the medical officers of the Local Government Board, or by the medical inspectors of the municipality or county council. There is to my mind equal need of a Government inspection of public and private schools, in order that the drainage, closet accommodation, airspace and dietary may be brought up to a very much higher standard than at present. The children of parents of the middle class should obtain the same care from the State as those whose education is paid for out of public funds.

It is easy to obtain details as to the findings at operation, the mortality rate, and the condition of the patient a few weeks after any surgical procedure, but reliable figures collected by a disinterested observer, extending over a period of years afterwards, are few and far between, and it would be difficult, if not impossible, to obtain such guidance with reference to the operation for gall...

A Case of Narcolepsy 1Read at a meeting of the Society, December 12th, 1906.

The patient in whom I observed this condition was a young lady, unmarried, of about 30 years of age. She comes of a highly neurotic stock, chiefly, however, on the mother's side. In the maternal family there ar...
